LUCKY IN LOVE? NOT SO MUCH? MOUNTAIN PLAYHOUSE EXPLORES ALL THE STAGES OF DATING AND MATING WITH MUSICAL COMEDY I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE AUG. 2 – 14.
Jennerstown, Pennsylvania –Music and a romance will fill the air at Jennerstown’s Mountain Playhouse Aug 2 – 14 with its professional production of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; book & lyrics by Joe DiPietro; music by Jimmy Roberts and directed by Larry Tobias. One of only eight remaining members of the Council of Resident Summer Stock Theaters, the historic theater will end its summer season with this charming musical that takes an honest and comical look at the challenges we face in every stage of romance.
The cast includes: Lisa Riegel, Kaitlin Stilwell, Chan Harris, and J.D. Daw. Musical Director and Piano, Terry Osman; Violin, Elizabeth Pile.
“I am thrilled to work with this talented cast,” Director Larry Tobias said. “This is the first time that Chan Harris’s voice will be featured since 2004 when he played Joseph here at the Playhouse. Everyone can relate to the situations in this show at some point in their lives. It’s sketch comedy, but with a heart.”
I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a celebration of the mating game and takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as "the relationship." Act I explores the journey from dating and waiting to love and marriage, while Act II reveals the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car and pick-up techniques of the geriatric set…all set to a great musical score. This hilarious revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, and to those who have dared to ask for a first date.
There is an element of romance both on and off the stage for Director Tobias. He and actress Kaitlyn Stilwell met at the Playhouse ten years ago when they both were playing in Smoke on the Mountain. Now happily married, they return together to the Jennerstown theater for the production of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.
Opening Night Cooking Contest and Party: Opening night will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 3, with festivities sponsored by Somerset Trust, WTAJ-TV and WJAC-TV. Following the 7 pm performance, all attendees are invited to the Cast Party in the Tuscany Room at Green Gables. There, they can meet and greet the cast members and enjoy the music of West Holiday Trip. During the run of I Love You. You’re Perfect, Now Change, the Jenner Gallery will feature the work of the late Somerset artist, David Weimer.
The 2016 schedule will resume for the Fall Season Sept. 20 with the comedic thriller Death Trap.
